Preferred Name

EliteID supports the full use of Preferred First Name from the time of enrollment, to search, to printing of the preferred name on the ID card.

Input a Preferred First Name

Preferred First Name can be implemented in two steps.

  1. Populate the First Name Preferred field (by manually inputting the information and/or data import)

  2. Add the First Name Preferred field to the Credential template(s)

We recommend using First Name Preferred only when the name is different from the person’s First name.

Add the Preferred name during enrollment

Step 1 of the Create Person wizard includes a Person field named First Name Preferred.

Editing the Preferred First Name

It is two step process to edit a Person’s preferred name.

  1. From the Person page click the pencil icon to edit the record. A pencil icon is revealed under the ID photo.

  2. Click the pencil under the photo to open the Edit Person modal.

  3. Make the changes then click Save.

 

Viewing a Person’s Preferred Name

The Person screen displays the preferred Name in quotation marks under the ID photo in First “First Name Preferred” Last format.

e.g. Kevin “John” Jones

Searching by Preferred name

First Name Preferred is searchable and is displayed in quotation marks in the search result.

e.g. Gonzalez, Anna “Annie”

Printing preferred name on the ID card

The Preferred Name can be printed on the card front and back.

EliteID supports 1+ Name objects on the card front or card back, making it possible to print both first/last and Preferred/last on the same side of the card.

  1. Add a Name object to the design canvas

  2. Open the Name object’s Data panel

  3. Choose any option that includes Preferred such as “Preferred Last” or “Last, Preferred”

Card Design Example

In this example Preferred First Last are printed to the card front, and the first and last name (legal name) are printed to the card back.
