Register a printer for EliteID
To print from EliteID the printer must be registered using VDS PrintManager and linked to a Station.
VDS PrintManager is installed on the workstation connected to the (USB/Network) ID printer. Refer to Install VDS PrintManager then return to this page.
Administrator permission is required to complete the below registration process, or the PC must be restarted after the printer is added.
Launch VDS PrintManager by searching for it in the Start menu search, or Start > Vision Database Systems > VDS PrintManager
The first time PrintManager is launched a login prompt is presented to the user. While it is not required we recommend applying a non-user (service) account dedicated to printing to avoid possible service disruption. To create a service account use any email even if it’s fictitious such as EliteID-Service@school.edu. See User Management to create an account.
Enter the credentials in the VDSapps Credential window.
Note: Note: The credentials used must have at least the following role permissions in RapIDAdmin: here).
You can change the VDSapps Credential at any time by accessing Security > VDSapps Credential.

Troubleshooting
If the printer status remains offline try restarting the service. If the status indicates (Inactive) be sure to select a Station and Prints card types.
Open Services and restart VDS PrintManager
Test Print
We recommend reviewing the printer driver settings to confirm the appropriate ribbon type, card size, duplex option, mag encoding, etc. are configured.
Evolis ID printers require the VDS PrintManager service to Log On As with a User account instead of Local System to print (front/back) duplex and encode the magnetic stripe. See Evolis Primacy for additional setup instructions.
Refer to your ID card printer’s user guide for specific instructions.
To test the printing from VDSapps:
Click Actions > Test Print
A print job will be sent to the ID printer.
