Register a printer for PerfectPass
PerfectPass communicates with your printer using our VDS PrintManager software.
These next steps cover signing in to PrintManager and configuring the printer as a PerfectPass slip printer.
VDS PrintManager is installed on the workstation connected to the (USB/Network) slip printer. Refer to Install VDS PrintManager then return to this page.
Administrator permission is required to complete the below registration process, or the PC must be restarted after the printer is added.
Launch VDS PrintManager by searching for it in the Start menu search, or Start > Vision Database Systems > VDS PrintManager
The first time PrintManager is launched a login prompt is presented. While it is not required we recommend applying a service account that is dedicated to printing to avoid possible service disruption. See User Management to create an account.
Enter the credential in the VDSapps Credential window.
You can change the VDSapps Credential at any time by accessing Security > VDSapps Credential.
Register a printer
After applying the VDSapps Credential the next step is to select the printer that will be used with PerfectPass.
In the Local Unregistered Printers list, select the slip printer
Â
Enter a Location where the printer is located (Student Services, the workstation name, etc.)
Select Receipt from the Printer Type drop list
Click the right arrow to add the printer
When prompted, auto-restart PrintManager as Administrator and restart the service to fully register the printer. Or you may reboot the PC and return to this page to complete the below steps.
Configure the printer in RapIDadmin
Configure the printer type and assign a Station
In these steps we specify the PerfectPass station that can print to the slip printer and the slip types it can print.
Open RapIDadmin
Go to Administration > Printers
Click Actions > Edit beside the printer you added
Enable the pass, warning, and detention options
Choosing a station is required
Click Save
The status should indicate ONLINE as shown below
Test Print
There are 2 ways to test the printer:
In RapIDadmin identify the printer then click Actions > Test Print.
In PerfectPass, first select the Station assigned to the printer, then assign an incident that includes the Print a Slip action.
