Two-factor authentication (2FA), sometimes referred to as two-step verification or dual-factor authentication, is a security process in which users provide two different authentication factors to verify themselves.

For our 2FA implementation of 2FA the authentication factors are the user email/password and the one-time 2FA code provided by the chosen authentication method.

2FA can be optional or mandatory for all users. The supported authentication methods are Authenticator App and Text Message. The Administrator can enable the use of both App and Text, or just one of the methods. 2 Step Verification can be mandatory for all users.

How to enable 2FA

The 2FA administration settings are located in RapIDadmin and are available to users that are granted the RapIDadmin:Administration:Settings permission.

Info

To access RapIDadmin select the user avatar > Switch Applications > RapIDadmin

Navigate to RapIDadmin > Administration > Settings to view the 2 Step Verification settings.

Enable 2 Step Verification - Enable 2FA for all users associated with the Customer and Tenants. The 2 Step Verification menu option will appear in the user avatar menu. Visit Login using 2FA for user instructions.

Make 2 Step Verification Mandatory - Require the use of 2FA for all users. Users have 14-days to enroll, and users not enrolled by that time may require Administrator to issue a recovery code if Self Recovery is disabled. Visit Generate a 2 Step Reset Code.

Allow Self Recovery - Allow users to re-gain access to their account when they lose access to their enrolled device(s). Visit Recovery for more info.

Authenticator App - Allow the use of an Authenticator App.

Text Message - Allow the use of Text Message.
