Enroll a device

Enrolling a device is performed by the user after 2FA is enabled by the Administrator.

Click the user avatar then 2 Step Verification. A modal window will display the option to enroll a new device and a listing of the currently enrolled devices.

Depending upon the authentication methods that are permitted by the Administrator, you may see the option to enroll both Authenticator App and Text Message, or just one of the methods.

Requirements

Authenticator App

Any authenticator app can be used to generate 2FA codes.

An Authenticator App can be downloaded from your mobile device’s App Store / Play Store.

Popular authenticator apps include:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • LastPass Authenticator

  • Duo Mobile

Text Message

A 10-digit phone number that can receive text messages is required.

Enroll an Authenticator App

Never share your codes with anyone! Sharing your codes will allow that person to login as you. Vision Database will never ask for your code.

Click Generate Secret, then scan the QR code with your authenticator app or enter the secret manually. Enter a Device Name (commonly this is your mobile device model/name though you can use any nickname) and current 6-digit code from your app then click Enroll to add the device.

Upon successful code entry the enrolled Authenticator App will be listed under Enrolled Devices.

Enroll Text Message

Enter a unique device name (it cannot be the same name you may have used for the Authenticator app). Then enter a 10-digit phone number and click Send Text.

After a moment you will receive a text message containing the 1-time code. Enter the text message code then click Enroll.

Upon successful code entry the Text Message device will be listed under Enrolled Devices.

Set an enrolled device as the Primary

When you’ve enrolled multiple devices you can set one of the devices as the Primary option when logging on. Click the blue button beside an enrolled device to tag it PRIMARY.

Remove an enrolled device

Under Enrolled Devices click the red button to remove the enrolled device. Be sure to enroll a new device if 2FA is required by the Administrator.
